Nexus One AT&T Review
By Jordan on April 10, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I just recently acquired the new Nexus One with the AT&T frequency bands! So far I love it. The only complaints that I have about it reside with the capacitive touch buttons. They can be difficult sometimes, and almost useless when lying flat on a table. Video review after the break.

HTC Sense 2.1 Rolling Out Some New Features
By Kyle on February 16, 2010 at 11:31 pm

Today HTC announced a few new phones. Some of which have Android 2.1 with Sense UI. So far there is not much news on the new additions. What we do know is that there is a new widget called Friend Stream. It aggregrates all of your social networks live on your homescreen.

Speaking of homescreens, you can now pinch on the homescreen to see all of your homescreens at once. This is a much faster what to switch between screens than scrolling past them all.

The Sprint Hero should be expecting this update over the air soon. Sprint just tweeted that it will be updated in early Q2.

Sprint HTC Hero Review
By Kaitlin on December 25, 2009 at 6:41 pm

I have mixed opinions about the HTC Hero. In theory, it’s amazing. In practice, it can use a little work.

The phone, of course, comes without a physical keyboard. The on-screen keyboard is decent, though a little more cramped than that of the iPhone. Basically, it would be disastrous without the predictive text. With the predictive text, it’s actually pretty good. With one word, I typed every letter wrong and it still knew what I meant. Impressive, right?

Then there’s the messaging. To me, messaging is the most important function of any phone. It’s all I do every day. It’s somewhat of an improvement over my last phone, as the messages are grouped together into conversations where instead of viewing one message at a time, you can see a whole thread of them. It also allows you to send messages that are more than 160 characters. There is also this really cool feature where the phone tries to guess when messages you received were sent, and insert them in the correct place on the timeline. For example, if someone sends a message a minute before you but you don’t receive it until after send yours, the phone will insert it before your message. Unfortunately, sometimes this messes up and it can be confusing because the phone will show someone answering your question before you actually asked it.

HTC Leo – The First Capacitive Windows Mobile Device?
By Kyle on August 20, 2009 at 7:36 pm

htc_leo_specifications

You might have wondered before why there has never been a Windows Mobile cell phone with a capacitive touch screen. This question has definitely puzzled me. Some research has shown two explanations. One is that Windows Mobile users actually want to use a stylus instead of a capacitive screen which works great with just a finger. The second is that Windows Mobile does not ship with capacitive capabilities. Companies could develop the capability but none have, at least until now.

Magic To Get Sense UI Upgrade
By Kyle on August 16, 2009 at 8:34 pm

htc-magic-sense-ui

It looks like the HTC Magic (T-Mobile myTouch 3G) will be getting a free UI uprade to the Hero’s Sense UI. It will run just as well on the Magic as it did on the Hero since it has the same internals. If this is all true and T-Mobile goes along with the upgrade, then this could be the first phone with Sense UI in the United States. It is not clear though whether this upgrade will be free or around $46. Stay tuned for further updates.

HTC Touch Pro2 Coming To T-Mobile As Well
By Kyle on August 11, 2009 at 3:02 pm

t-mobile-touch-pro2

T-Mobile recently announced that they will be releasing the HTC Touch Pro2 August 12th. It looks like all of the carriers are getting in on the game including Verizon. T-Mobile’s version does not have a 3.5mm jack but instead a micro usb converter for audio. Noah at Phone Dog just unboxed T-Mobile’s HTC Touch Pro2, so go check out his video.

Update: The T-Mobile version is limited to a 3 person conference call. Also for some reason the default browser is no longer Opera Mobile but rather Pocket IE.

HTC Touch Pro2 To Launch On Sprint And AT&T In US?
By Kyle on August 10, 2009 at 3:08 pm

sprint-touch-pro2

In the past day we have seen pictures of both a Sprint and an AT&T HTC Touch Pro2 (Tilt 2 on AT&T). This phone has debatably the best keyboard on a mobile phone. It runs Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional and has a resistive touch screen. As a replacement to zooming with multitouch like you would see on capacitive screens, HTC has added a zoom line below the screen where you can run your finger across to zoom in and out. Continue for more pictures.

HTC Ozone For Verizon Wireless
By Kyle on June 25, 2009 at 12:35 pm

htc-ozone

HTC is launching a cheap Windows Mobile based cell phone for Verizon. The phone will only cost you $49.99 on contract and after all the rebate jazz. The phone will be launching July 13th but you can get it online June 29th. If you are in the market for a inexpensive QWERTY Windows Mobile device then I’m sure this will work just fine.
