The iPhone’s new operating system rolled out a little past 1:00 PM EST. Apparently people in the US get a version without even the option to send MMS. This of course is because AT&T is waiting until the end of the summer to allow iPhones to MMS.

The upgrades that you do get are good but not outstanding. Spotlight search lets you search through pretty much everything on your iPhone. Honestly though I don’t see myself using that much.

The new copy and paste function is very well implemented though. I enjoy copying and pasting text just because I can. It is especially useful when emailing photos because you can send multiple photos at once.

Landscape keyboard is actually a great addition. It allows you to type much faster and more accurately.

Youtube lets you sign in with your account now giving you the power to sync your favorites and view your subscriptions.

The voice recorder is nothing that is new to cell phones so it was really not a big addition by any means.

There is no tethering in the US under AT&T yet so that feature will have to wait.

I find myself most looking forward to the new apps though. Peer to peer gaming and push notifications all around. I have yet to find any apps that use these features yet though.

To me the biggest dissapointment was not getting some of the software updates the iPhone 3G S enjoys. The voice control and video recorder to be exact. Also it is beyond me as to why Apple hasn’t added multitasking support after the Pre has been pulling it off so well.

Gogo Gradation iPhone Case

The Gradation Case by Gogo for the iPhone 3G is quite nice. I could hardly notice I had a case on since it weighs less than an ounce and only makes the iPhone 1 mm thicker. The back has a cutout around the Apple logo so you can see it. It is very easy to snap the phone into the case but a little difficult to snap it back out. As far as protection for the case it seems to offer very good protection on the back. There is very minimal protection on the front, but it does come with a screen guard which should help. Overall I would recommend the case to someone looking for a hard case that wants to protect the back of the device.

iPhone 3G S Preorders Are Sold Out

This really is no surprise considering how popular the previous iPhones were. You can still preorder your iPhone 3G S but it wont ship for 1-2 weeks after the release date. Also there are some iPhones set aside from the preordered ones that you can walk in and buy, or rather camp out and buy.
