By Kyle on June 12, 2009 at 2:19 am

The Samsung E1107 Crest Solar is launching in Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Latin America this month. Its most amazing feature is the large solar panel on the back of the device. Every hour the phone gets in the sun, you can have up to 10 minutes of talk time. It is always good to see phones coming out with alternative power sources because having to charge your phone every night is a bit of a pain.

By Jordan on June 12, 2009 at 1:04 am

This is the suspected T-Mobile Bigfoot Android handheld, rumored to be released this summer. The device’s rumored specs are:
- 3 megapixel camera
- UMTS/HSDPA device
- 3.0″ capacitive AMOLED touch screen display
I’m hoping that the name Bigfoot is the code name for the new phone, and not it’s real title.

Matte iPhone Not Fake?
Here is the proof!
By Kyle on June 10, 2009 at 10:55 pm

Everyone was expecting Apple to announce the new iPhone with a matte back on Monday but instead they announced the iPhone 3GS with the same glossy back. This meant that the leaked matte iPhone photos were fake, but as you can clearly see the model number is the same on both the leaked image and the FCC. The reason for this is unknown but a likely scenario is Apple decided to switch back to the glossy back at last minute.

Zune Review
Microsoft's handheld music player.
By Kyle on June 10, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Ever since the first iPod was released in 2001 Apple has dominated the portable media player market. Microsoft sat back and watched until 2006 when they released their own PMP, Zune. The first generation of Zune only came in one configuration, a hard drive based 30GB player. It had didn’t have a scroll wheel like the iPod, but instead it had a circular D-Pad. The hardware was not exceptionally pretty, especially the brown Zune. The website Hide-a-Pod captures this idea quite well. Continue Reading

Palm Pre Sells 50,000
By Kyle on June 9, 2009 at 5:02 pm

The latest estimates say that 50,000 Palm Pres were sold during its opening weekend. Palm is playing this off as a success since most locations sold out. This is not hard to achieve considering some locations had as little as four units each. Compare this to the Apple iPhone 1st generation. It sold 146,000 units on its opening weekend at the unsubsidized price of $499 and $599. The iPhone 3G sold over a million during its first weekend. These numbers do not please Palm’s investors many investors and Palm has seen a 10% stock drop.
One investor seems to think the Pre is doing quite well. Roger McNamee invested $400 million into the Palm Pre and tells Fox it was a dream come true in an interview. He continues to say they never wanted to take down Apple because that is an unrealistic thing to do, but merely take some of the market share that wasn’t already taken by either Blackberry or Apple.
